I seriously didn’t know what to call this style so I just made up some random name that summarized every step – twist, braid, bun. When I first started this style, it was just me having fun in the mirror. As you may remember, my best work is done when I’m playing around in the mirror with nowhere to go and that is totally the case here. After I got the style underway, it morphed into an ahhhhh snap moment where I was all in and totally showcasing this to you as a style option.
How-To
I moisturized with Annabelle’s Perfect Blends Hair Creme. I had no intentions on this becoming a style, thus I did not seal. I normally seal my hair though when I putting my hair up in a multi-day style.
Step 1 } Create two strand flat twists on the left and right side of hair.
The below video is a similar concept just to give you a visual except I opted for flat twists for my current style.
Step 2 } Create a simple braid and pin the tail of the braid and the two strand twists.
The video will give you a visual of what I’m referring to with creating the braid. For my current style, I basically piled all the hair in a ball and started bobby pinning my little heart out.
Step 3 } Add hair candy for appeal. I opted for Lilla Rose clips (previously named Flexi 8 clips).
Conclusion: I know a video would have been a lot easier to follow but trust me, this style was not intended for anything more than fun. I just messed around and put a little love into it and it was game on at that point.
Once I got my style pinned to perfection, I slicked down my edges, snapped a few pics, tossed on a scarf and called it a night. My next day game plan is to quickly remove my scarf and roll out. Ain’t that nice — easy and quick.
I’m hoping to make this a multi-day style. Thursday is gym day and I sweat like a beast but I’m gonna make this work best I know how. I will tie down my hair with a scarf and hope for the best.
This is also great style for 30 Days of Moisture. My hair retains moisture a lot better when it’s neatly put up and tucked away for a couple of days.
Enough rambling…so what do you think of my style?
this is a must try, I especially like the two strand twists in the front
Let me know if you give it a try, Harlem. Thank you, chica!
I love it! Simple and chic!
Oh thank you, Lydz!
I could never braid the left side of my hair. Love this style.
Oh girly, yes you can. I went super slow on the left side but I succeeded. Thank you for the love!
This is a very cute style. Great for protection, and can be done on relaxed and natural. Great Job.
Thank you, Sophia!
I love this style. I have been wearing flat twists all summer but i’ve been braiding the entire perimeter. I never thought to do a bun. I will definitely try this! This style looks so elegant!
I’m glad you really like it. Let me know how it goes when you give it a try.
