— Air Drying Relaxed Hair with Banding Method —
Apply all of my leave-in products on sopping wet hair
Detangle the hair extremely well with seamless combs
Pull all hair back and create one big ponytail
* Check out the DIY Headband and Ponytail Holder for Black Hair *
You can accomplish the banding method any number of hair ties
* I use 5 hair ties although all 5 are not visible in the photograph below *
Secure the hair at the crown with a duck bill clip
* Securing the hair with the duck bill clip minimizes friction while air drying *
Place scarf over hair while air drying
— Benefits of Banding Method —
The banding method holds in the moisture while air drying
It results in hydrated, sleek, smooth & tame hair
— Drawbacks of Banding Method —
It takes a while for the hair to dry.
The hair has tendency to be damp by morning if you do the banding method overnight.
— Overall Thoughts —
Best air drying method available without the use of tools.
The banding method is an excellent method to achieve sleek results.
You can say goodbye to dry, bushy, coarse hair.
It leaves you with a lot of bounce and body without the use of heat.
It stretches the hair and elongate the new growth.
Provides manageability to the hair.
Great for relaxed hair or natural hair.
I will be trying this, I never get good air drying results!
Keep me posted Candice. I love reveals!
Isn’t it awesome? I wouldn’t be able to air dry without this method.

TY!!!
Divachyk,
Does only using one ponytail help stretch your new growth when you’re farther along in your stretch? Also how do you prevent your ends from drying out? For me, even when tshirt drying for 20 minutes before blow drying my ends are already super dry. I want to start airdrying but my concerns are my curly new growth & dry ends.
Thanks,
Tarra
Hi Tarra — I have started using two ponies now vs. one. I think the hair dries quicker since it’s not all bunched up in one pony. I use the LOC method for my hair and that locks in the moisture really well. Otherwise, I don’t do anything special to my ends. I band the hair all the way to the ends. About an inch of the ends are left exposed from where the last bands are placed. Maybe try the LOC method to see if that helps your ends retain moisture a little better.
Thx divachyk! I’ll def be trying the LOC method.
Please let me know how it goes for you, Tarra.
