Are you struggling with dry, thirsty, frizzy curls? Aloe vera may be the answer to your curly girl woes.
Benefits of Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is one of the very first things that come to mind when I have scalp inflammation, skin burns or skin irritation. It was a part of my upbringing. It has healed sores, itchiness and scalp irritation from environmental changes, reactions to products and scalp discomfort during the days of having relaxed hair. Aloe vera feels soothing and cooling when applied and generally offers quick relief.
Aloe vera is also very nourishing which provides moisture and shine to my hair. Combatting frizz is a huge priority of mine as well. Aloe vera contains high levels of B12, minerals, amino acids and enzymes which help controls frizz and offers a more defined curl pattern.
Below are 4 ways I incorporate aloe vera in my natural hair routine.
Pre-Shampoo Treatment
Pre-shampoo treatments are popular in natural hair regimens. Let me be honest, I am not as consistent with this step as I used to be. I do, however, use aloe vera on my scalp, hair and edges throughout the week to maintain moisture, shine and control frizz. An added bonus is pre-softened hair before wash day. To use aloe vera as a pre-shampoo treatment, simply massage it on your scalp and let it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes before shampooing.

Shampoo
Curly girls constantly debate which is better, sulfate shampoo versus sulfate-free shampoo. I recommend using what works and ignoring all other chatter. While aloe vera can be added to your favorite shampoo for a hydration boost, I prefer purchasing products formulated with aloe vera like Made Beautiful Cowash Cleansing Conditioner. This cleansing conditioner is very hydrating and leave my curls bouncy, moisturized and frizz free.
Conditioner
Conditioners with amino acids promote moisture which I find necessary for my naturally curly hair. Maintaining hydration at every step of my regimen increases the chances of having well moisturized hair with defined curls on wash day. Camille Rose Moisture Algae Renew Deep Conditioner and Curl Love Moisture Milk are solid products. (Side Note: I love Camille Rose products as I’ve mentioned before.)

Hair Styler and Styling Gel
Aloe vera as a styler is my favorite use. It defines and moisturizes curls simultaneously while offering a soft hold. I apply a small amount to damp hair to define curls or style my hair. I also love Camille Rose Curl Maker. It works well on wash and go’s and two strand twists. Curl Maker is my go-to!
its super hard to maintain the natural hair, my friend has one, she really has taken good care of, I would be sharing with her, I’m sure it would be helpful for her 🙂
