The Why
I never took interest in Cantu Beauty until seeing many transitioners and long-term stretchers applaud the line. Specifically, they complimented the leave in conditioner’s ability to soften and moisturize. Therefore, I purchased it along with a few other Cantu Beauty Products — Cantu Care for Kids Conditioning Detangler and Cantu Shea Butter Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream.
The Assessment || Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream
In the past, I struggled to find a good leave in conditioner that worked for air drying my hair. Most leave in conditioners leave my hair feeling dry and/or require layering of multiple products for it to feel remotely hydrated. However, my search just might be over!
The Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioning Repair Cream is pure excellence! It tames, softens and smooths from root (natural hair) to tip (relaxed hair).
I consider this leave in conditioner balanced as it delivers a perfect blend of protein and moisture. My compliment is major considering I have protein sensitive hair that hates what seems like all things protein.
It doesn’t, however, provide much slip for detangling so I offset that by sealing my hair with an oil or serum.
I used the leave in conditioner as per the directions and it worked great with each use:
- Moisturizer – on dry hair
- Leave In Conditioner – on damp hair
- Intensive Deep Conditioner – overnight treatment
Does it Deliver as Promised?
Yes! It hydrates the hair which lessens the opportunity for breakage. It doesn’t, however, repair split ends because split ends cannot be repaired. They can only be trimmed or cut. At any rate, I’m very happy I gave this product a try.
I quite liked this product but the smell drove me crazy. It’s not unpleasant but it does linger on and on. I couldn’t bear it. I switched to the Argan Oil one which worked just as well without the lingering fragrance. When they changed the formula of that one I was happy to find the ORS Monoi Oil Anti Breakage Leave In Conditioning Creme. I work around the slip issue because it’s big and lasts for months. I’m sure I could go through an 8oz bottle of my favourite detangling leave-in each month if i used it the same way.
I wonder if you got a bad batch or something. Mine doesn’t smell and I’m super sensitive to what feels like everything. I have found a new leave in that’s amazing. I purchased the Bekura Honey Latte during Christmas and just now go around to using it and it rocks. Paired with Cantu…it’s amazing!
Right now I’m using Shea Moisture Jamaican Castor Oil leave in conditioner. In the past. I’ve use Cantu though. I need to get some this weekend and try it again.
Well now, let me look up SM leave in…I love SM products so maybe this one would work.
You can find many online store to buy best Cantu products, such as Cosmetize, Amazon and many more. Cantu’s products are really good for me as well. Thanks for this post Jay.
