The featured video provided an overview of how I’m caring for my flat ironed transitioning hair throughout the week.
Flat Ironed Transitioning Hair Regimen
My flat ironed transitioning hair regimen is pretty much the same as my flat ironed relaxed hair. However, there is one difference. I stay away from water based gels so that my natural hair does not revert. I moisturized and sealed twice daily to keep my hair protected for the environment. I continued working out and surprisingly, my roots only reverted slightly.
Current State of My Hair
If you missed my recent post, I visited a hair salon and had 5 inches cut off for manageability. I went from being around midback length to somewhere around arm pit length.
My hair feels, looks and responds so much better with it cut. I really like this length and I’m considering maintaining it for a while. It’s a good length where I can style it with ease but it’s not too long where wash days are brutal.
Many have also asked if I’m fully natural yet. Unfortunately, I’m far from it. However, I’m pretty much natural at the bottom layer of my nape. I’m about 70% natural and 30% relaxed everywhere else. I still have a long way to go in my crown. My crown is either slow-growing or of a tighter texture. Either way, it feels like it’s at a standstill although shrinkage is likely the reason.
Featured Transitioning Hair Products
AfroVeda CocoLatte Moisture Mask
My Honey Child Buttery Soy Hair Creme
Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Hercules Sagemann Seamless Comb (Wide Tooth Jumbo Rake)
I like changing up products but in the featured video, I used products from AfroVeda and My Honey Child. I’ve owned these for quite some time. So long in fact, the packaging has changed on both products. Both are very effective on relaxed hair and natural hair.
