Chidora silk lined hats are made with 100% silk and 100% wool. I previously reviewed the adorable Chunky Knit Silk Lined Bobble Hat from Chidora. It was my first introduction to silk lined hats. The joy of not having to haul around a scarf to wear under beanies lacking lining is so convenient! This post showcases the Lambswool Silk Lined Slouchy Beanie and Lambswool Silk Lined Classic Beret.
£45 (GBP) or $68 (USD). Price based on the exchange rate at the time of this writing.
Chidora uses 16mm Charmeuse Silk which is considered medium weight and excellent for withstanding chilly temps. Each hat is made from 100% lambswool with the silk carefully lined by hand.
When it comes to silk products, I already know what some of your reactions to pricing will be based on previous reviews. I know many of us desire a bargain and have no desire to pay $68 for a silk lined hat and I get that. No doubt there are cheaper vendors out there but they are using lower quality materials. Therefore, the comparison isn’t apples to apples when comparing vendors on quality and price. Check out my Silk vs. Satin article if you missed it. Vendors offering lower quality materials are a good thing though as it provides choice to consumers. My job as a blogger is to do just that, provide you with a range of products to give you choice. That being said, let’s talk Chidora!
Chidora Silk Lined Hats Review:
Chidora hats are of amazing quality and come in a variety of styles and colors. They come with a stretchable elastic around the perimeter that allows for a snug fit. The elastic isn’t tight on the forehead where it causes discomfort, headaches or marks. Instead, it provides a just right fit to keep the chill out and the warmth in.
Aside from it being silk lined, the next best feature is the hat does not have tiny holes in the fabric. Often times, beanies, even when lined with silk or satin, will have tiny holes in the fabric which allows wind to easily pass through the hat and to our hair. Chidora hats are true wool hats where there are no holes in the fabric, thus it blocks the chilly winds from working its way up in the hat and to our hair. The ultimate goal of a hat is to block wind and keep warmth in and the Chidora collection does exactly that.
