Dealing with dry new growth is one of the toughest aspects of relaxer stretching. However, in this post, I will let you in on a secret of how to easily restore moisture to your hair from root to tip.
Moisturizing Dry New Growth with Applicator Tip Bottle
The number one complaint for many relaxer stretchers is dry new growth. I’m no exception. One day while struggling with my hair during a relaxer stretch, I brainstormed the idea of moisturizing my new growth with an applicator tip bottle. It works for applying oil to my scalp so why wouldn’t it work for applying moisturizer?
Hair Product Recipe
I combined my favorite conditioner and distilled water in an applicator tip bottle with using about a 50/50 ratio. I used enough water to thin the consistency just enough to be able to squirt it out of the bottle. I like my mixture creamy instead of runny. Therefore, I kept the mix thick so that when I place it on my new growth, it stays put instead of running down my neck. After applying the conditioner mix to my scalp, I massaged it into my dry new growth for about 5 minutes. I made sure the conditioner mix touched every strand. When done, my hair was very hydrated, especially the new growth.
You can use any conditioner of preference just as long as it works. If you want to enhance your mixture, you can even add oil.
Why Does This Work?
The why behind this technique is pretty simple. Often times when moisturizing and sealing, we overlook our new growth, leaving it to become dry and brittle. With this technique, you’re deliberately applying product to your new growth so in the end, your hair is moisturized from root to tip.
