Do vitamins prevent hair loss and combat hair shedding? For me – yes! I have been on a vitamin regimen for majority of my adult life. I started by taking a basic one a day vitamin from Walmart. I stayed on that regimen for many, many years. I then decided to improve my vitamin regimen a few years ago and opted for the be-WHOLESOME vitapak from GNC. It includes:
be-WHOLE – Multivitamin & mineral
be-BEAUTIFUL – Hair, skin & nail formula
be-FLEXIBLE – Mobility & stretch formula
be-PROTECTED – Triple strength fish oil
be-BALANCED – Bone strengthening formula

I also supplement this with additional 1000 mg each of Fish Oil & Flax Oil — per the optometrist, these should help with dry eyes which is quite an issue on the days I wear contacts.

Why be-WHOLESOME
1) Provides the nutrients I feel my body needs
2) Formulated with a hair, skin and nails
3) Available in-store; doesn’t require online purchasing
While there may be better options available, I chose be-WHOLESOME because I wanted to stick with a vitamin that is available on the ground and from a reputable source. I originally purchased be-WHOLESOME in an effort to control my acne. I was hoping the hair, skin and nail formula would work magic. It didn’t but I kept taking the vitapak anyway for total body health.
Hair Loss and Shedding
Many ladies would complain of hair loss and increased hair shedding as the seasons changed but my shed hairs always remained controlled. I never once gave thought to why my hair wasn’t experiencing an increase in shedding like many others.
Suddenly, it all changed and I started experiencing an increase in shedding. Although I had fallen off my vitamin regimen, I blamed it on the weather and whatever else was going on in my life at that time. After life settled down, I resumed my vitamin regimen and my shedding returned to normal. I didn’t link the two!
My second experience came when I once again had fallen off my vitamin regimen and guess what — yep, increased hair shedding! It was at this point that I finally linked the two. Sure enough, I resumed my vitamin regimen and shedding returned to normal. To the question, do hair vitamins combat hair shedding, my answer is yes! Whether it is the placebo effect or truth, I’m convinced my vitamin intake has an impact on my hair’s shedding. From this point on, I will remain consistent with taking my vitamins.
SN: I have not noticed any increased growth from taking these vitamins.
Let’s Discuss | Do vitamins prevent hair loss and combat hair shedding?
I suck at sticking to my vitamins, when I don’t take them I notice a difference in how my new growth feels and also my energy levels so I try to at least take my multivitamin.

Hi Candice, I try to take mine with lunch as this is the easiest time of day to remember. There are a few days where I forget to take them but I no longer go days upon days without taking them. What’s your vitamin of choice?
Hi Jay,
My hair sheds a lot when my iron is low. I have been tagged and I tagged you too. Kisses Auntie Jay:-)
My sister deals with low iron. She eats liver to help with that (yuck!). She doesn’t fool with hair like we do so she doesn’t ever tell me how her shedding is but she does have thinning but that could be due to other meds. It’s hard out there for women.
Liver is yummy! Of course, if cooked right, lol. You just reminded me of a good source of iron AND a lean protein!
I have tried to stomach liver but I can’t. Never say never but I’m not a fan right now. It is very healthy though.
That’s true too. Other meds can cause that.

True!
in my opinion you are not right let’s discuss it. Write to me in PM, we will talk Orthomol mega man vitamins
I thank you for your opinion but my experience is my experience. I’m good with my GNC vitamins.
I take these very same vitamins (plus an iron pill for my anemia) and not only have they increased the density of my hair, they have helped me retain enough to reach MBL relaxed (something I have NEVER done), cured my vitamin D deficiency, and given me beautiful, spot-free nails that grow quickly and break less than before. I and my doctor are very pleased with this vitamin pak.
Oh that is so awesome amd I’m glad you shared your experiences. I wish they would consolidate the pills in some way. Question, do you take all pills at once or do you take the duplicate pills at different times of day?
