Doing a flexi rod set on relaxed hair is an awesome way to create beautiful and voluminous ringlet curls. Simply pin curl the hair at night to maintain the curls. This post will highlight my flexi rod set on relaxed hair with my newest purchase, Laila Ali Soft Bonnet Hair Dryer.
I really should have written this post at the time of washing because my wash day feels like forever ago and I have totally brain dumped thanks to the On The Run Tour in New Orleans! Beyonce & Jay put on a great performance. What a magical experience. Back to wash day….I’m due for extended travel later this year and I will be without the opportunity for hydrating steaming sessions and smoldering Pibbs 514 drying sessions for my flexis. Therefore, this wash day was a simulation of what life on the road will be like when that time comes……
I’m totally honoring my commitment to 30 days of ceramides so I used wheat germ and dabur vatika enriched coconut oil for my pre-shampoo step.
As mentioned in my recent post, Caring For Your Hair Post Touch Up, I always clarify / chelate the first wash after my salon touch up to remove any impurities transferred to my hair during the relaxer process. In this step, my hair becomes a blank canvas which opens the window of opportunity for my handmade products to create a beautiful masterpiece in the weeks to come. I do not like the idea of my products playing tug of war against salon products, thus clarifying and chelating eliminates this concern.
I deep conditioned for 30 minutes with my Hot Head Thermal Conditioning Cap.
Product Used: Annabelle’s Perfect Blends White Chocolate Deep Conditioner with a tablespoon each of grapeseed oil, honey and extra virgin olive oil.
Note: I tossed in grapeseed this wash to increase my ceramides usage. However, it didn’t make much difference in the conditioning step.
Flexi Rods on Relaxed Hair
I chose flexi rods because I wanted pretty hair for the concert. However, I used a different rolling technique and drying method. I rolled the hair in a spiral motion and oh my gosh, I love the soft, elongated curls it generated. In looking back at these pics, I wanna squeeze my own hair. :0)
As for the drying method, I purchased the Laila Ali Soft Bonnet Hair Dryer from Walmart.com. I want to use it a few more times before I conduct a review but I will say this — it doesn’t dry my hair nearly as fast as the Pibbs 514. However, it’s convenient, portable and comfy. I was able to relax on the couch and watch tv while drying my hair. Now that, I like!
How was your recent wash day?
