Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner | Product Review
Now that we have the product promises and description out of the way, let’s talk truth! Save your money and don’t believe the hype!
This leave in conditioner was really popular within the healthy hair community about five years ago. Everyone raved about how much moisture it gave their hair. I tried it when I had relaxed hair and that was not the case. My hair was tangled and although it felt moisturized initially, my hair was very dry the following day. After a few tries with the same result, I gave up.
Fast forward to present day. Now that I’m transitioning to natural hair, I thought why not try it again to see if my new head of hair would appreciate the Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner. I applied it to two sections of hair before realizing this was going nowhere fast. Although my hair had awesome definition, it lacked moisture and my relaxed ends were yet again tangled. It made my natural hair look dull. It was a complete miss.
What Others Are Saying
The Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner is protein based. Therefore, I’m pretty sure that is why my hair reacted the way it did. Check the ingredients before you buy to see if your hair may love or hate it. However, it looks like I’m not alone in feeling this conditioner lacked what my hair needed. Below you will find mini reviews from other healthy hair enthusiasts.
I hate Giovanni Direct. I thought it was just me.
I tried that ish years ago and it foamed up in my hair
The Giovanni Direct didn’t do anything for my hair either. I only used it when I was relaxed, but I remember my hair feeling so dry afterwards. I don’t even care to see how my natural hair would react to it.
For a quick minute i thought my natural hair liked it then the next day my hair was a straw basket. I was so mad.
I thought it was just me. I liked it when I was relaxed. But after I went natural it was horrible for my hair. It didn’t moisturize or aid in detangling. I didn’t even like the scent.
Giovanni direct leave in used to be a hit yrs ago but became a huge miss last yr. It left white flakes and tangled my hair at the root which hardly ever happens to me. I lost so much hair detangling my hair over and over because it seem that my hair would tangle up again. I ended up trashing that leave in.
Total Fail But Wait, There’s More!
Although I will be trashing the Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner and not looking back, all hope isn’t lost. The Giovanni Brand has a conditioner that I love. It’s the Giovanni 2Chic Avocado & Olive Oil Ultra-Moist Conditioner. It offered everything that the Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner promised: luster, hydration and nourishment. Too bad it is a co-wash conditioner and not a leave in conditioner. However, the Giovanni 2Chic Avocado & Olive Oil line does offer a leave in conditioner that I have yet to try. I will hold off for now but it may be something to consider for the future.
