— Hot Head Conditioning Cap Review —
Thermal Hair Care are the makers of the Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap.
— Product Quality —
I unboxed my cap and immediately took notice of the high quality fabric and attention to detail — very impressed. I’m no seamstress but the stitching is on point and the cap is as cute as can be. I really like that the heat packs are nicely spaced out and make contact with majority of your hair.
— Directions —
Microwave Hot Head Conditioning Cap for 1 minute 30 seconds proceeding in 10 second increments. Reposition the Hot Head in the microwave to heat evenly.
Unfortunately, the directions do not give a recommendation for max heating time based on microwave wattage. Therefore, I had to use good judgement on how long to heat it.
I heated the cap for a total of 1 minute 40 seconds — I initially heated the cap for 1 minute 30 seconds cap side down. I wanted a little more heat, thus I heated it for an additional 10 seconds cap side up. My microwave swivels as it heats so I didn’t reposition as per the directions.
— Did the Heat Last? —
The heat lasted a solid 30 minutes. The Hot Head Conditioning Cap was minimally warm the last 15 minutes but kept the warmth trapped in.
— My User Tips —
You may find the nape missing out on some of the heat if you position the cap too far forward on your forehead. The front edge of the cap should be as close to your hairline as possible to ensure the heat travels down to your nape.
Gathering and pinning the length at the crown will ensure maximum contact.
Manually reposition every 30 seconds if you do not have a rotating plate.
— Shipping —
All items are handmade, thus there is a processing time of 3-5 days. I received my Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap cap within 2 to 3 days.
— Product Care —
Although the cap is not machine washable, it can be spot cleaned using warm water and a mild detergent. I wear a plastic cap underneath to keep it nice and clean and recommend you do so as well.

— Final Thoughts —
The Hot Head Deep Conditioning Cap maintained heat for 30 minutes which is sufficient for my deep conditioning needs. At the end of my deep conditioning session, my hair felt nicely moisturized. More than anything, I love the convenience it provides – I’m no longer confined under the hooded dryer or steamer.
Edited to Add [21 Aug 13] a reader inquired if this is a great tool for long hair. Response: Absolutely. I apply my conditioner as normal, secure the length of my hair to the crown, throw on a processing cap then put on my Hot Head Conditioning Cap.
