Your hair is?
My hair is currently Natural, I BC’d all the damaged Relaxed hair in May however I am on a 6 month stretch and I will be texlaxing.
When and why did you start your healthy hair journey?
I started my hair Journey in November 2014, I have always wanted to have thick hair, so one afternoon I took to the Internet to research how to achieve thick hair and I discovered hare care world, I have never looked back since then
What is your current length? What is your goal length?
I currently have a TWA and my goal length is Waist Length
What is your regimen – wash day, daily, nightly?
Daily/ Nightly (if not long term protective styling)- Moisturize and seal at night and sometimes scalp massage. Before I BC’d I would pin my hair up every day for work, for now I band and leave it out. And I sleep with a satin scarf every night without fail.
Wash Days: Pre Poo using either instant conditioner or hot oil (EVOO + Avocado Oil). Sometimes I combine the two depending on what my hair needs.
Shampoo: I alternate between Sulfate Free Shampoo and a moisturizing shampoo and once a month I clarify.
I DC every week religiously, I don’t miss this step ever. Once a month I do a protein treatment which is always followed up by DC. Every wash day I follow up my DC with an instant conditioner. I apply leave in’s and I air-dry (before my BC I would sometimes roller set). When my hair is dry I moisturize and seal.
How often do you trim / use heat?
Usually I touch up every 12 weeks, I trim with my touch up’s if needed and I have attempted to use heat on relax days and failed each time.
What’s your fave go-to style?
I have two faves: Up do’s and Flexi Rod sets.
What do you love most and least about your hair?
My hair grows and thickens at a rapid pace so I like that I often see results for the hairdwork that I put in. My hair is also very soft and I love that about it. Currently with my TWA I don’t like that I can’t do much to my hair except long term protective styling.
Do you take any supplements or use growth-aides? How have they helped?
I have experimented with Manetabolism, and my hair became so thick! Unfortunately I took them at a wrong time when I was going through a setback and I wasn’t aware and I put my hair through so much strain with box braids so it broke off. Otherwise I feel that Manetabolism would have done me a ton of good. I used to drink Wheatgrass. I feel that in its own way it did help with my hair progress and overall health. Currently, I am not taking any supplements because I want to see how my hair grows on its own.
What has helped you most in achieving and maintaining length?
Before BC, updo’s, pin ups and buns, I have see more length then than with any other PS I have tried.
Name a hair product, accessory or tool you cannot be without? And why?
African Pride Moisturizing Lotion… That moisturizer is amazing and beyond and it has never let me down. Castor Oil… it helped me achieve the thickness I was initially looking for.
