Directions For Enjoyment:
Apply the deep conditioner to damp hair once a week, and leave on for up to 30 minutes before rinsing out. Can be used with a plastic cap or warm towel to increase penetration into the hair cuticle.
NaturelleGrow and I discussed my hair concerns – low porosity, protein sensitive – before deciding on a product to review. I like that she allowed me to review a product that was best suited for my hair vs. what was best suited for her business.
The scent is orange strawberry and the conditioner smells exactly that — a refreshing blend of orange and strawberry. The conditioner is thick and creamy which I love. Win (smell) / Win (consistency). 😛 SN: I had my husband sniff the conditioner to see what he thought it smelled like and he immediately said, a hint of orange and a hint of strawberry without knowing the scent. 😀
I used NaturelleGrow Marshmallow Root, Slippery Elm Bark & Cinnamon Deep Conditioner (Protein Free Formula) twice – use #1: under the heat therapy wrap (8 weeks post); use #2: steamed for 30 minutes under my LCL hair steamer (1 week post). Both conditioning methods proved to be a hit! I don’t believe my hair softened on contact as the marketing material suggests but it definitely softened after allowing the conditioner to sit on my hair for 30 minutes. Do keep in mind I have low porosity hair so it takes a while for product to absorb and penetrate which might be the reason for the delayed softening effect.
Although softening benefits were delayed, rest assured, my hair has felt soft, fluffy and cottony after each use — I love soft & fluffy hair by the way. 😛 Soft and fluffy makes it easy to rock a juicalicious bun! Although the conditioner is thick and creamy, the consistency is forgiving enough where it applies with ease and doesn’t snap any strands.
The good news is, the hair remains soft beyond wash day. I’ve commented before that I’ve tried conditioners that made the hair feel great on wash day but come day 2, the hair is bone dry. Not the case with this conditioner — the soft, fluffy, cottony hair lasts many days thereafter. The number of days it lasts varied based on outside temps and activity level (gym workouts). This conditioner is definitely a hit!
I am digging the concept of offering and marketing a protein free conditioner. All too often I look at an ingredients list and I’m left to figure out if it does / does not have protein. I can spot protein ingredients better now than when I first started this healthy hair journey but even still, some ingredients still trip me up. NaturelleGrow takes all that worry and fear out of the equation by offering a protein free conditioner! I like that I don’t have to guess — I know I’m getting a protein free, moisture rich conditioner. That’s comforting and makes it much easier to hit pay now because I know what I’m getting vs. having to guess and hope for the best.
