Post Relaxer Regimen
Are you aware that some relaxers deposit calcium on the hair which causes dryness and can lead to breakage? Needless to say, the job of a healthy hair enthusiast is never done! Now that we are rocking a fresh relaxer, it’s time to shift gears and move to maintenance to keep our hair healthy until the next relaxer.
Clarify & Chelate
I am salon relaxed so I wash my hair within 3 days of receiving a relaxer touch up. This ensures my hair is free of build-up and salon products deposited to the hair during my visit. I follow up with a protein treatment to give my hair strength. I then deep condition to restore moisture to the hair.

Search and Destroy
My overall goal is to stay on top of problems before they start. Therefore, I will do what we, healthy hair enthusiasts, like to call search and destroy. This simply means to inspect a group of hairs and snip away any split ends that I come across. Basically, search for and destroy the problems once found.
Moisturize and Seal Daily
This one comes as no surprise seeing how every article ever written talks about moisturizing and sealing. For those unfamiliar with this technique, moisturizing means to moisturize your hair with a water based product and sealing means to apply an oil based product to the hair. You always moisturize first to increase the moisture in your hair. You then follow up with a sealer to lock in that moisture.
The scalp takes a beating during a relaxer. Therefore, I always pamper my scalp for several days following my relaxer to avoid scalp dryness or irritation. Excellent options are Vatika Frosting by Hairveda and Bountiful Mane by Komaza Hair Care.
Vatika Frosting is enriched coconut oil with a variety of herbs. I find it to be very soothing to my scalp not to mention it smells absolutely divine.
Bountiful Mane penetrates down to the hair follicles and aides in the development of strong and healthy hair follicles.

Oil Blend for Dry, Itchy, Scalp
I never deal with dry, itchy scalp throughout the month but for whatever reason, I periodically develop it after my relaxer. When this happens, I use an oil blend on my scalp until the problem resolves itself. The feeling of dry, itchy scalp is usually gone within a few days tops.
Scalp massaging is an excellent way to stimulate blood flow to promote growth and a healthy scalp.
