The Q-Redew is a handheld hair steamer that uses warm steam in the form of mist to quickly restore moisture, rejuvenate and reshape natural hair and moisturize relaxed hair.
— Q-Redew Steamer Review —
The Q-Redew cost $69.95 and is marketed for natural hair. When I first glimpsed this product, I instantly became curious to know if it would also work on relaxed hair. There were zero relaxed hair reviews that I had seen which is odd. After all, hair steaming benefits all hair, not just natural hair.
How Does the Q-Redew Work?
The Q-Redew uses warm vapor that dispenses in the form of mist. The mist does not make the hair wet or damp. The mist provides an added layer of hydration to the hair much like any hair steamer would do. The warm water vapor gently opens the cuticles to allow product and moisture into the hair.
Using the Q-Redew
I used the Q-Redew three different ways: hydrating my new growth, moisturizing my relaxed hair and deep conditioning with steam.
New Growth: My new growth is very thick and coarse and I am often unable to part through it throughout the week. Using the Q-Redew gives my new growth the hydration needed to be elongated and feel moisturized, giving me the ability to part through my hair with ease. The moisture of the Q-Redew is not short lived. Days later, I am left with lasting hydration.

Relaxed Hair: My relaxed hair did not soften as much as the natural new growth with the use of the Q-Redew. I am sure that has to do with the fact the relaxed hair is just softer generally speaking so the softening effects were not nearly as noticeable. I did notice the Q-Redew accelerated product absorption which is awesome. Thanks to low porosity hair, product normally sit on top of my hair for quite some time before finally absorbing in. The presence of the warm mist gently opens the cuticles for product to soak in quickly, leaving my hair feeling smoother instantly.
Deep Conditioning: Although Q-Redew has not marketed this as being a deep conditioning tool that I recall, I wanted to give it a shot anyway. The Q-Redew does not have enough output of mist to properly steam my hair for deep conditioning.
— Q-Redew Steamer Final Thoughts —
After many uses of the Q-Redew, I feel it works best on my natural new growth. With each use, my new growth is left hydrated and elongated with ease of manageability. When my hair is thick, coarse and dry, it is subject to break at the line of demarcation. The Q-Redew lessens the opportunity for breakage through the softening effects it has on my hair. The Q-Redew is great for a mid-week refresher to the new growth, especially those doing long relaxer stretches. My relaxed hair did not benefit nearly as much when considering the softening effects of using the Q-Redew. However, my hair was very well hydrated through the acceleration of product absorption.

Yeah well, I have plenty of those and while this might become that in the end, it’s not that yet. I only use it when ng is kicking though so it does get a little dusty in the off weeks.
