This SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist Review will give you my thoughts on how this product performs on multiple textures!
Ingredients:
I hate when the ingredients on my bottle differ from those shown on the vendors website. I seriously don’t understand why companies stay reformulating and often times it’s really not for the better. The ingredients on my bottle are: Deionized Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Essential Oil Blend, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Seed Oil, Algae Extract, Hysspous Officinalis Extract, Silk Protein, Salvia Officinalis Leaf (Sage) and Equisetum Arvense Extract, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Flower (and) Lonicera Japonica (Japanese Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract. Visit SheaMoisture’s Website to see the ingredients they have listed there.
My Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist Review of ingredients is a thumbs up. Great ingredients that is especially hydrating for low porosity relaxed hair.

— SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist Review —
Size: 8 oz. | Price: ~$7.00 | Purchased from: Walgreen’s Pharmacy
The phrase “hold and shine” was a turnoff when I first learned of this product months ago. It sounded like it would provide holding power and/or be a hair serum. Therefore, I dismissed the product by its name alone. It wasn’t until a healthy hair enthusiast recommended I give it a try did I give it a second look.
Nozzle Design:
I hate when a spray comes out like a forceful stream vs. an actual mist. Streams overly saturate sections of hair whereas sprays distributes product evenly. Shockingly, the Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist lives up to its name as the spray exits the bottle in a true mist.
Moisture and Shine:
My hair has excellent moisture and shine after each use. I have used this product consistently morning and night for a month and have been very pleased. At the end of each week, my hair is supple and moisturized from root to tip. My natural hair new growth and relaxed hair length are equally moisturized.
Anti-Frizz:
My natural friend, whom I trust, praised this product for addressing frizz while in twists and braids. My braids are always frizzy when wearing wigs but my hair was smooth upon take down.
Volume:
I’m dealing with a lot of new growth so my hair automatically has volume. Therefore, I cannot accurately rate its ability to provide additional volume. However, I haven’t noticed an increase in volume for what its worth.
Dislikes:
I can honestly say I have no dislikes other than the name which is really misleading and long! Nothing about this product provides hold. Therefore, I’m unsure why it’s included in the title.
Conclusion:
My SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist Review concludes with, this product is the truth! It is effective from root to tip on multiple textures. I like that it does not contain glycerin, thus performance is not impacted by the weather.
A few ladies from social media purchased the Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist after reading my praises and love it also. Last I checked, Walgreen’s has 30 user reviews and Amazon has 57, both displaying a rating of 4.50 out of 5.00 stars. You can thank me now or you can thank me later but I definitely thank the lovely lady that recommended it to me. ☺
I’m off to search for it. I’ve become quite interested in hair mist so I hope I get it.
Some have told me it’s hard to find. I get mine from Walgreens so start there. Now, be warned, my Walgreens only have 2 or 3 on the shelf at any given time. I wiped them out in Feb because I love the mist that much.
OK. I will try curlmart too as they ship to Ghana:-)
Ahhh yes, perfect!
Maybe.. the word hold is in the name because the product also “holds” hair strands closer to each other to tame the frizz. I used to be a huge fan of Shea Moisture when I was a loose natural then all of a sudden, my hair stopped liking those products. My fav spray is simply 4 squeezes of lemon juice into about 4 oz of distilled water.
My hair is in locs but it has not yet thoroughly locked. The lemon juice and water helps to raise the cuticles so that the hair clings together. My hair has a high “silky factor” so this helps it also to roughen the hair shafts and makes it feel and appear thicker and stronger and rougher.
I alternate days of just plain distilled water with a day of lemon juice and water. u
Forgot to add my hair is hella shiny which is sort of unusual with locking hair–I attribute this to very healthy cuticles when I was a loose natural and to using ice cold water to lock down my cuticles after the lemon juice and water (which is warm) treatment.
Oooooh I love shiny hair. Hemp gave my hair a nice little bling back in the day. I think it was healthy cuticles also.
Shea Moisture actually responded to my inquiry and stated that all hair differs (of course we know that) and it provides holding power for some.
I am glad you did a review! I have been using it off and on for sometime and like it on both my hair and Z’s. The term hold was definitely a turn off initially but since I love several of the other products from this line, I decided to give it a go. I use it primarily when I am doing twists and love that it is a light product that adds moisture rather than make the hair sticky and hard. I will try incorporating it more in my regimen and see what changes I have noticed especially after reading you have used it twice a day for a month with good results. Thanks for sharing your experience! It’s very helpful!
Fantastic review Jay!
I tried this once, but before I had a chance to see if I really liked it, my little cousin STOLE it! LOL. She didn’t give it back so I’m assuming that she liked it!

I thought it would be a product to hold my twist out, but you are right. It doesn’t ‘hold’ a style. I didn’t particulalry notice any additional shine when I used it though. But your review combined with seeing it used as a refresher on old hair to help create a new style on a different blog has me second guessing my original write off of this product!!
Great review, Jay!
Thanks chica
YEAH! It’s a good one – I agree the name is deceiving! Good review.
TY sis!
I like using this for when I have my hair straight and down/freshly relaxed. I ran out and switched up and used Shea Moisture’s Yucca and Plantin spray, but it doesn’t moisturize like the Coconut and Hibiscus Moisture Mist does. Probably because the Yucca and Plantin line is supposed to reduce breakage and promote hair growth. It does mention that it moisturizes but that’s not a main point on the bottle. I’m not sure that it does either of what it says for my hair but though I like the scent of it better, once it runs out I’m going back to the Coconut and Hibiscus.
Thanks, Jay. Based on your review, I bought this when Walgreens had a Shea Moisture sale. I remembered your comment about it working on all textures, and tried it on my new growth as a moisturizer. I also sprayed it on my relaxed hair as a setting lotion. It works well for both. That is rare, and this will be a new staple.
Thanks again.
