When I first started my healthy hair journey, my hair was continuously dry and brittle. Much of that had to do with porosity and hard water although I was not aware of it at the time. Incorporating a Sprite Water Filter provided tremendous benefit to my hair, skin and nails. I am no longer dealing with hair dryness and breakage. I am also no longer dealing with dry, itchy, skin and dry, peeling nails.
Porosity & Hard Water
I learned about porosity about a year in to my healthy hair journey where I immediately took measures to properly treat my hair. While my hair improved, the dryness and brittleness did not. I continued struggling with my hair for about a year or more thereafter. One day the thought (finally) occurred to research the topic of hard water — I learned it could be the source of my remaining issue. Tell me no more!
Sprite Water Filter
I ran out to Lowe’s and purchased a Sprite Water filter. While it filters out a lot of impurities, it doesn’t filter out everything (see diagram below). At first, my lack of understanding led me to believe having a water filter was enough and chelating was not required. Boy was I wrong. I have noticed a tremendous difference in hair health and hydration since purchasing a Sprite water filter AND clarifying & chelating on a routine basis. I emphasize….a water filter does not replace clarifying and chelating.
Sprite Water Filter Maintenance
I have owned a Sprite Water Filter for about 5 years now and absolutely love it. The shower head (filter included) cost $24 at my local Lowe’s. The filter refills cost $20 and last about 6 months. As shown below, the Sprite water filter has a dial where you can set the month reminder of when to change the filter. The Sprite water filter isn’t gorgeous but gets the job done to promote healthy hair and skin.
If you’re dealing with chronic dry hair or skin and have exhausted all options, give a Sprite water filter a try…it could be the missing step in your beauty regimen.
