I kept my regi simple yet effective this past wash day as I just didn’t feel up to doing much to my hair….
Pre-Poo / Pre-Wash Detangle
I did an overnight pre-poo with dabur vatika coconut oil to the length and KeraVada Fenugreek to the scalp. I scalp massaged my hair for about 5 minutes before detangling with Uniq One All In One Hair Treatment (a BirchBox goodie). I like detangling the night prior to wash day to save time when wash day officially rolls around. I always wear a plastic processing cap over my hair when pre-pooing to generate heat and to protect the bedding.
Dry Deep Condition
I opt for dry deep conditioning from time to time when 1) being lazy; 2) time doesn’t permit a longer regi; 3) in the winter when it’s too chilly to be jumping in/out the shower. My reason this this wash day? Pure laziness.
I dampened my dry, un-washed hair and scalp with a loose leaf tea blend of marshmallow root, slippery elm and burdock root. I then applied Annabelle’s Perfect Blends Blueberry Cheesecake from root to tip before steaming for 45 minutes. I allowed the conditioner to stay on for an additional 30 minutes while watching tv.
Oil Rinse / Co-Wash
I rinsed Annabelle’s Perfect Blends Blueberry Cheesecake from my hair with warm water. I also took this moment to run the comb through my hair with allowing the force of the water and slip of the conditioner to assist with detangling. I distributed a quarter size of wheat germ oil through my entire head before applying Sally’s GVP Conditioning Balm. I allowed the conditioner to sit for 2-3 minutes before rinsing with tepid water.
I had an oopsy moment where I totally forgot to squeeze the excess water from my hair with coconut oil soaked hands. It wasn’t until about 30 minutes into t-shirt drying did I realize I skipped this step. Some areas of my hair were barely damp while others remained slightly damp. To my surprise, my hair felt soft and amazing almost like I could skip the leave-ins. I’m not foolish, thus I slathered on the coconut oil and then allowed the hair time to dry some more. I decided to try Blueberry Cheesecake as my leave-in and my hair loved it!
I have been allowing my hair to reach 95%-100% dry before post-wash detangling to cut down on wash day breakage. I always run the comb through my hair post-wash to ensure all sheds are removed. If not, I’m left with hair clumping and dreads.
Next Day Hair
Amazingly soft and sleek just how I like it.
