I use to be super excited about wash day posts but any more now, I kinda feel like a broken record and that I’m boring you to tears. Surely hope not! I seriously tried to think outside the box and come up with a good indirect heat plan other than roller setting or flexi rods but I came up empty handed, sort-of. I’m thinking of doing a wash day with bantu knots under the hooded dryer. More to come on that, maybe. But ok, ok, ok, back to the task at hand…this wash day.
Combined Pre-Poo / Dry Deep Conditioner
I detangled per the usual with my Mane n Tail joint. I then layered on Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil, Claudie’s Tea & Annabelle’s Perfect Blends Cherry Bling. I allowed this concoction to penetrate my hair for 30 minutes. I’ve used Cherry Bling before and owe you a product review but I’m thinking I like the conditioner as a rinse out vs. dry deep conditioner. My hair requires a little more umph and I feel HairVeda Red Tea Conditioner gives me just that.
I’m very low on my honey boo-boo, HairVeda Amala Cream Rinse. Somehow I allowed myself to be without backups. That has never happened! Anyway, I considered using another co-cleanser this wash day to make Amala Cream last but at the last minute, I decided to stick with the norm since I was trying a new conditioner this wash day.
I received a goodie box of products to review from Naturelle Grow and decided to throw one of the conditioners in rotation this wash day: Herbal Blends Protein Free Moisturizing Conditioner. I gave thought to using it on its own to give it a true test but then again, why not just stick to what works. I mixed together 4 tablespoons of conditioner and 1 tablespoon each of honey and avocado oil. I totally didn’t mean to use avocado oil. It wasn’t until after wash day ended did I realize the mistake. *oh well* I steamed my hair for 30 minutes. Rinsed with tepid water. I definitely have a good first impression of this conditioner: great slip, excellent hydration which generated soft hair.
 Leave Ins / Style
I am sticking with what works for now until the change bug hits: I layered on Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil, Pura Body Naturals Moisture Milk & Pureology 21 Benefits Spray. I actually flexi rodded my hair differently this time. I normally rod my hair like you would a traditional roller — horizontal. This time I rodded my hair by vertically wrapping the hair around the roller.
Fast Forward 1 Hour. I’m in love with this revised rolling style. My hair looks and performs like bantu knots!!!! The curles are softer and not as frizz prone. They are easier to manipulate without tangling or risk of breakage. I will continue rolling my hair in this way from here on out.
Icing on the cake: my hair dried quicker as well. I’ve gotten the drying time down to 1 hour! Woot!
How was your recent wash day?
