— The Reason Why I Don’t Relaxer Stretch —
I’m 10 weeks post
The above photo is good enough reason why I don’t relaxer stretch.
I missed wash day on Sunday so I thought I’ll come home and do a quick regi rundown after work on yesterday so I skipped some vital stretching steps – prepoo, thorough detangling, tea/oil rinsing and washing in sections. You see, even I fall victim to poor judgment when pressed for time. For the record, I really try to refrain from doing my hair when I’m rushed but my hair needed some long overdue attention and attention it got.
I tried WEN Fig with making sure I deep conditioned very well. I used HairVeda SitriNillah and SheScentIt Avocado as my deep conditioning base. I mixed in a number of oils, honey & agave nectar. I wasn’t playing!! I wanted that moisture goodness. I steamed for 30 minutes, rinsed and towel dried until about 90% dry. Semi-dry hair is the only way I can get these silly tangles out of my hair. I carefully sectioned the hair and applied my leave in — SheScent Avocado (love multi-use products). I then baggyed for an hour. I sealed with avocado oil after removing the baggy.
Here’s the result
First impression much like before, my hair was soft which I adored. Fast forward to this morning — my new growth is still soft and very manageable. I can run my fingers through it with no problems or snagging. However, my length isn’t as moisturized as I like it to be but that can be handled through baggying. Therefore, I will conclude WEN to be a product hit because it’s a beast on my new growth! However, it’s only a hit if I do a thorough conditioning session and a baggy since my low porosity hair doesn’t take to wheat protein like most hair.
For the inquiring minds of how much hair was lost — the ball looks bigger than what it really is. I think I lost a reasonable amount considering I haven’t properly combed or detangled in days.
